UPDATE - AUGUST 2, 2007
Mark Your Calendars for Saturday, April 19, 2008
The 2008 edition of the Louisiana Triathlon is already in the planning. Meetings with city and parish officials have already begun to plan the April 19, 2008 swim-bike-run contest. Officials are considering working with organizers to close motor traffic on the bike portion of the event. As the event has grown, so has the size of the town! So more bikes and more motor vehicles on the course make for a tricky proposition in safety.
If you have any influence with city or parish officials, put in your thoughts to officials there about the soundness of closing the bike route to cars, trucks, four-wheelers, etc.
Also, Fleet Feet has opened a Baton Rouge shop for fitness equipment and apparel and will be one of our new sponsors for the event this year. Support our sponsors. By the way, those of you who do dry cleaning, be sure to support our long-time sponsor, Kean's the Cleaner.
So as you finish out your 2007 year in triathlons or multisports, get ready for the 2008 season with a race in Pointe Coupée Parish.
Be on the lookout for early registration deals. Again, those of you who won your age group in the 2007 event are welcomed to race again free of charge. I'm working hard on making our awards bigger and better.
If anyone has a contact with a floor covering company or carpet company that could or would help us carpet the transition area, let me know. I can use carpet remnants or whatever to keep all our participants soft, tender feet safe, secure and free of cuts and bruises.
Hope to see you on the roads.
